Our weekly lessons
At One to One Tutoring, we understand that preparing for the 11+ is about more than simply learning subjects. It’s about building confidence, developing effective exam techniques, and nurturing the skills your child needs to achieve their full potential.
Our carefully structured, teacher-led weekly lessons are designed to provide comprehensive preparation for the West Midlands Consortium GL Assessment 11+ examination. Throughout the programme, we focus on all four key aspects of the eleven plus: English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Spatial Reasoning.
Each child receives one hour of focused tuition every week, combining live teacher instruction with opportunities for independent work. Our lessons are interactive and engaging, allowing teachers to adapt their approach to each child's individual pace, needs and learning style.
With a small adult-to-pupil ratio of 1:6, every child benefits from personalised attention and support while also developing the independence and confidence needed to succeed. Lessons are balanced between direct teaching, guided practice and independent tasks, ensuring that learning is reinforced without overwhelming pupils.
Alongside our weekly lessons, we also offer Focus Lessons, which target one specific aspect of the eleven plus over a three-week period. These focused sessions complement the weekly programme by providing additional time to develop particular skills and address specific areas of learning.
For pupils who require more individualised support, our ad hoc one-to-one sessions provide the opportunity to target specific areas of need with tailored tuition.
