About Year 6 SATs
SATs (Standard Assessment Tests) are national assessments taken by children in Year 6, at the end of Key Stage 2 in England. These assessments are designed to measure children’s attainment in English reading, English grammar, punctuation and spelling (GPS), and mathematics. SATs help schools and parents understand a child’s progress and identify areas for further support.

English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS)
This section includes a grammar and punctuation paper as well as a spelling test.
We cover:
Grammar rules and sentence structures
Punctuation use (commas, apostrophes, etc.)
Spelling strategies and common word patterns
Mathematics
Children are assessed on arithmetic and mathematical reasoning across two papers.
We focus on:
Number and place value
Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
Fractions, decimals, and percentages
Measurement, geometry, and statistics
Problem-solving and reasoning strategies
