We’re really looking forward to welcoming you and your child to One to One Tutoring for their trial lesson! When you arrive, you’ll be met by Kathryn who will help your child feel settled and comfortable.

Kathryn is an experienced primary school teacher with over five years of classroom experience, specialising in Upper Key Stage 2, particularly Years 5 and 6. She is passionate about helping children build confidence, strengthen their understanding and develop a genuine enjoyment of learning. Alongside teaching, Kathryn has provided one to one tutoring in Year 5 Maths and English, as well as supporting pupils preparing for the 11+ entrance exam.

Kathryn understands that every child learns differently, so she carefully tailors each session to suit their individual needs. Whether a pupil is consolidating key skills, closing learning gaps, preparing for an exam or simply building confidence, her lessons are engaging, supportive and appropriately challenging. With a calm and encouraging approach, Kathryn breaks down tricky concepts into manageable steps, helping children feel comfortable asking questions, learning from mistakes and becoming more independent learners.

Outside of the classroom, Kathryn enjoys reading, pottery and art. She also loves spending time with family and discovering new places on long walks.

The trial lesson is not a formal assessment. It’s simply an opportunity for us to get to know your child, and for you and your child to get to know us and experience how our lessons work.

During the session, we’ll work with your child to identify their strengths and areas of challenge and begin helping them develop greater confidence. The lesson will be designed around your child and the information you have shared with us. As we get to know them better, we’ll tailor future lessons to their individual needs, interests, likes and strengths.

Please bring a drink with you. If your child is likely to get hungry, you’re also welcome to bring a small, healthy snack.

At the end of the session, Kathryn will provide some general feedback, and Chris will then be in touch with you to discuss your child’s experience and possible next steps.
