Y4 11+ Week Commencing 10th November 2025 (week 3 of 6)

Happy Monday!
We hope you had a lovely weekend.

A Friendly Homework Reminder: Each week, we set a small amount of work which is really important for your child. This homework is designed to either pre-teach new concepts or help consolidate what we’ve been learning in class.

We also provide recommendations for suggested independent study. We believe in quality over quantity—so just 20 minutes a day, five days a week, on top of an hour with us, adds up to over 150 hours of additional learning per year—that’s the equivalent of around six extra school weeks!

Vocabulary is key
Every week, we set a small amount of vocabulary work, including:

  • 5 words in context

  • A “Word of the Week”

  • Vocabulary from our lessons

Vocabulary is more than just exam prep (it can make up 10–15% of a test); it’s also essential for everyday communication. We’ll be running vocabulary-focused quizzes on a cycle, so little and often really makes a difference. We’ve found that sophisticated vocabulary can be the most challenging for children, so embedding it at home is vital. Find link to our welcome booklet here.

Finally, please remember to bring the IDEAS CATCHER to each lesson so we can add to it together.

Thank you for your support in helping your child get the most from their learning!

Exciting News: Year 4 Focus Lessons Starting in January!

We are thrilled to announce that from January, we will be introducing Focus Lessons for our Year 4 pupils. These sessions are designed to provide a deep dive into specific subjects, giving children the opportunity to build confidence, develop new techniques, and explore topics in a way that our regular weekly lessons simply don’t allow time for.

The Focus Lessons will cover Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Spatial, Maths, and English, with each subject explored over a period of three weeks. This slow, steady pace allows children to gradually develop their skills and consolidate their learning, building confidence along the way.

Our experience shows that children who attend these sessions often go on to achieve greater success in their studies compared to those who do not participate.

Attendance is flexible. You can choose to attend all of the Focus Lessons, or select the ones that you feel—or that we recommend—will be most beneficial for your child. This approach ensures that each child can tailor their learning experience to suit their needs and interests.

We will be sending out further details very soon, including the schedule and how to sign up. We are really excited to see the children engage, grow, and thrive through these special lessons!
