FOCUS SESSIONS/WORKSHOPS
ONE OFF MATHS: Fraction, decimals and percentages BOOK HERE
Monday 8th December. 4:30pm or Saturday 13th December 3:30pm
This Year 5 workshop focuses on strengthening essential fractions, decimals and percentages skills for the GL 11+. It builds deep understanding, efficient methods and clear connections between the three forms. Pupils learn to convert, compare and calculate confidently, then apply these skills to multi-step word problems. Through guided practice and problem-solving challenges, children develop accuracy, speed and resilience. This topic is vital for 11+ success because it appears frequently and underpins many other maths areas. The workshop ensures pupils can reason mathematically, choose sensible strategies and tackle unfamiliar questions with confidence and independence.

This one-off focus session concentrates on verbal reasoning and the various aspects of coding required for the GL 11+ exam. Pupils will explore techniques for identifying patterns, sequences, and logical relationships in words and numbers, enhancing their problem-solving and critical thinking skills. The session covers key coding concepts such as letter-number codes, substitution, and symbol translation, equipping children to decode and apply rules accurately under exam conditions. Through targeted practice and worked examples, pupils gain confidence, speed, and strategies to tackle unfamiliar questions. This session is essential for building clarity, precision, and reasoning skills needed for 11+ success.
